The beach is very calm. Because of the closeness of Isla Mujeres, there is almost no wave/under tow. Many of the other Cancun resorts closer to downtown have very large waves/undertows. There are two pools, one near the beach directly behind the resort and another off to the side.
There is a restaurant between the beach and one of the pools. Buffey every night highlighing some culture ( like Italian night, US night, Mexico night ).Near the beach it can be a pleasant place to eat.
The hotel itself is located near Old Cancun, but in a very quiet area away from the action of downtown. You can grab a cab, or just take the Cancun bus for 6 pesos and is a very good deal.
